Everyone here was a beginner once.
BYOB began in Miami in 2023 with a simple problem: finding someone to play with. As a beginner, founder Iryna Corrigan found that lessons were easy to bookâbut a consistent hitting partner at the right level was not. She started a small WhatsApp group to connect local players.
From a group chat to a growing community

It started with a player
New to tennis in Miami, Iryna created a WhatsApp group to find people to play with. BYOB was born. A handful of players in Miami Beach, a weekend doubles game, and the first happy hour.
2024
BYOB Sports becomes a local movement
Word of mouth does the rest.Signature weekend doubles in Miami Beach, monthly socials and the first tournaments. The community outgrows what a chat thread can organize.
2025
The app launches
Host or join a match, see player levels and profiles before you commit, chat in-app, and find everything the community is doing that week. iOS and Android.
2026
Three sports, one platform
Padel and pickleball join tennis in the app. Brand partnerships and coaching bring more to members than a court booking ever could.

Meet the founder
Iryna Corrigan, Founder & CEO
Originally from Ukraine, Iryna moved to New York City to build a career as a lawyer. Years later, a short stay in Miami unexpectedly changed the course of her life.
She took up tennis, fell in love with the sport — and quickly discovered how hard it was to find people to play with as a beginner. So she started a WhatsApp group, inviting others to connect, play, and meet new people.
What began as a simple way to find tennis partners grew into a real community — one that Iryna wanted to share with more people. She stayed in Miami, left her legal career behind, and eventually turned that community into BYOB Sports.

While tennis is where the BYOB story began, Iryna’s love of sports goes well beyond the tennis court. She also plays padel, pickleball, beach tennis, squash and ping pong, and is always open to discovering something new. For her, sport has always been about more than the game itself — it’s one of the most natural ways to meet people, build friendships and feel part of a community.

Today, BYOB is a platform built around the same idea that started it all: everyone should have an easy way to find people to play with and a community where they feel they belong. Iryna’s mission is to make that experience accessible and affordable to everyone — from true beginners picking up a racket for the first time to lifelong players looking for their people on court.
