BYOB Sports Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how BYOB Sports LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("BYOB," "we," "us"), collects, uses and shares personal information when you use the BYOB mobile app, the website at byobsports.com and related services (together, the "Service"). It also explains your choices and rights. This policy is part of our Terms of Use. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms of Use.

The Service is only for people 18 and older (see Section 6).
 

1. Information we collect

Account information

Examples: Name, username, email, phone number, date of birth (used to confirm you are 18 or older).

How we get it: You provide it, or we receive it from Apple or Google if you use their sign-in. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive an Apple relay address instead.
 

Profile and sports information

Examples: Photo, position, skill level, teams, stats, games joined or organized.

How we get it: You provide it.
 

Content and messages

Examples: Posts, comments, chats, game listings, photos you upload.

How we get it: You provide it.
 

Safety reports and blocks

Examples: Reports you submit or that other users submit about you, players you block, and related messages.

How we get it: You or other users provide it.

Location

Examples: Precise location (with your permission) to show nearby games and venues; approximate location from IP address.

How we get it: Your device.

Purchase information

Examples: Subscription plan, purchase date, renewal status. We do not receive your card number.

How we get it: Apple.

Device and usage data

Examples: Device model, operating system, app version, IP address, crash logs, features used, screens viewed.

How we get it: Automatically, including through our service providers.

Contacts

Examples: Contacts you choose to invite, only if you grant permission.

How we get it: Your device.

Support communications

Examples: Messages you send us and our replies.

How we get it: You provide it.
 

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

• Create and manage your account and provide the Service

• Confirm that users are 18 or older

• Show you nearby games, players and venues

• Process subscriptions and check subscription status

• Let you communicate with other users

• Review reports, moderate content, and suspend or ban users who break our Terms of Use

• Send service messages, such as game updates, receipts and security alerts

• Send marketing messages, if you opt in (you can opt out at any time)

• Understand usage, fix bugs and improve the Service

• Keep the Service safe, prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Use

• Comply with legal obligations
   

3. How we share information

We share personal information only as described here:

• Other users. Your profile, username, photo, age range, stats and content you post are visible to other users. We do not show your date of birth, email or phone number. Players you block cannot see your profile or contact you.

• Service providers. Companies that help us run the Service, under contracts that limit their use of the data. These include providers of cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting, email, SMS verification, sign-in services (Apple and Google), subscription management and maps.

• Apple, to process and manage in-app purchases.

• Safety and legal reasons. When required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of BYOB, our users or others, including when responding to reports of harmful conduct.

• Business transfers. As part of a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets.

• With your consent, or at your direction.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. Your choices

• Location. You can turn off location access in your device settings. Some features will not work without it.

• Notifications. You can turn off push notifications in your device settings.

• Marketing email. Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.

• Blocking and reporting. You can block or report any player by selecting "Block Player" or "Report Player" on their profile.

• Profile visibility. You can remove your profile photo and bio at any time, and you can choose to display only your first name.

• Delete your account. In the app under Settings > Account > Delete Account, or by emailing hello@byobsports.com. We delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except what we must keep for legal, security or fraud-prevention reasons. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel an App Store subscription; cancel it in your App Store account settings.

5. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy

• Correct inaccurate information

• Delete your information

• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, or targeted advertising (we do not do either)

• Limit the use of sensitive personal information

• Appeal our decision on your request

To make a request, email hello@byobsports.com. We will verify your identity before acting and respond within the time the law requires. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. We will not discriminate against you for using your rights. We honor Global Privacy Control signals where required by law.

6. Age requirement

The Service is only for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will close the account and delete their personal information, except what we must keep for legal or safety reasons. If you believe someone under 18 is using the Service, contact hello@byobsports.com.

7. Data retention

We keep personal information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After you delete your account, we delete or de-identify it within 30 days, except where we must keep it longer for legal, tax, security or dispute purposes. Records of safety reports and bans may be kept longer to prevent banned users from returning. Content you shared with other users, such as messages, may remain visible to them.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption in transit. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee security.

9. International transfers

We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for transfers.

 

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If changes are material, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The effective date above shows when it was last updated.
